Little Things, Big Things

<April 28/12.>  I often think the “little” things in life are really the big things. Also, that since we can’t count on the big ones to go our way, we might as well learn to celebrate the “little” ones. Here’s a collection of “small” things giving me pleasure on this 2-days-past-Chernobyl-26th anniversary, an unseasonably chilly (but sunny) Saturday.

  • Gratifying gratitude session on waking
  • Early rising & early achievement of some worthwhile tasks
  • Hanging laundry on the outdoor clothesline (love that free solar & wind-drying action )
  • People who listen when we are talking & don’t interrupt every 2.5 seconds
  • Simple friendliness (people who don’t know me saying a cheery “good morning” on my walk)
  • Nice walk
  • Sun & blue sky
  • Being able to be fully present in this moment
  • Seeing something very cool in a store window & feeling no need whatsoever to buy or own it
  • Recognizing a hard emotional truth & feeling very calm about it
  • Feeling cheerful & energetic
