This 3-minute video came my way yesterday. Postcards from Pripyat, Chernobyl.
Not sure how many times I've watched it now.
Please watch & share!
(You don't have to be afraid of this one. No images of deformed children to sicken you, or break your heart.)
Just scenes from Pripyat, 28 years later - all accompanied by an amazingly haunting song.
Really, totally a must-see. I wouldn't lie to you.
p.s. I wanted to watch the '60 Minutes' episode that the link is provided for, but was unable to. No worries, though! Though I could not watch the footage, the script for the show is provided.
As the host says, Chernobyl is forever.
Of course, Fukushima is forever also.
p.p.s. it could happen here...
p.p.p.s. short article 'Chernobyl’s eerie desolation revealed by camera mounted on drone.'
'Quote of the day' with this post: “…What part of Fukushima don’t you understand? If you don’t make the modifications [re: safety & emergency planning] you run the risk of destroying the fabric of a country. It happened at Chernobyl, and it’s happening right now in Japan…” – Arnie Gundersen in an interview with Al Jazeera on March 27/14.
