Anna Maria Tremonti’s Last Broadcast
I was there on Thursday, June 20th (2019) when Anna Maria Tremonti (AMT) did her last broadcast of ‘The Current’ – the show she hosted for CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Radio for 17 years. (For the record, the show is still going … just with a different host.)
This was at CBC’s Toronto office on Front St., right downtown. (You can hear the broadcast here.)
I wasn’t actually there to see AMT & her show … but more on that in a moment.
As it turned out, I did join the audience for the show … & wound up quite enjoying it. AMT had some pretty special guests!
Rick Mercer – of Rick Mercer Show fame – popped by briefly.
Everyone who took part in the show said some pretty interesting things!
Rick Mercer commented that satirists need to be careful to tell the truth – or they will lose their audience. (He also commented that it’s a “vitriolic world” out there these days.)
Stephen Lewis said:
“We’ve lost the energy to strike to the soul of issues.”
& referred to the “paralytic response of politicians.”
Tanya Talaga spoke about the need to move on with reconciliation in the follow-up from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission ... & her faith in youth & indigenous people.
AMT asked both Lewis & Talaga where they find hope in these troubled times. Both replied, basically … in young people.
I actually went to the CBC building that morning to hang around outside with placards that highlight CBC’s disturbing lack of honesty regarding all things related to vaccines & vaccine injury (this takes in everything to do with flu & measles, of course).
#1: Rick Mercer said satirists need to tell the truth … or risk losing their audience. At an event at the CBC building in Toronto.
Where CBC personalities – both news & other commentators – routinely tell whoppers about all things vaccine!
Why all the whoppers?
‘Cos CBC’s corporate advertisers (in this case the pharmaceutical industry: it is the pharmaceutical industry that manufactures & sells vaccines) clearly have a pretty special deal with them.
Hence, our placards:
Irony Alert # 2. Stephen Lewis & Tanya Talaga - & don’t get me wrong! I greatly admire both these people! – see “hope” in our young people.
& however quirky & intelligent (& potentially but unpredictably well-known, like Greta Thunberg has become) some people with Aspergers can be, the prospect of half of our young people being damaged in this way (i.e., they are not neurotypically normal), it is also the case that profoundly autistic individuals are often angry, destructive/self-destructive – may never develop proper language skills, may never learn to use the toilet – & will likely need constant care their entire lives. (Fascinating item here from someone on the spectrum. Interesting point of view, from the inside.)
The effects of this kind of condition on families? Well. Difficult to really imagine. We can imagine this: it’s got to be horrendously difficult, challenging, heart-rending, heart-breaking, exhausting, expensive. etc. (Very hard on marriages too, needless perhaps to say??)
… so the irony of hearing these two public figures say their hope comes from our young people … well, that was a pretty big ironic Aha moment for me.
Btw, it is not “just” autism with which our young people are being struck these days! Auto-immune disorders & learning disabilities (& other serious illnesses/conditions) up the wazoo. Plenty more on that here Too Many Sick Children & here Half of America’s Kids Suffer from Chronic Illness and It’s Getting Worse (Head’s up: these 2 items - & many of the others! - may “load” very slowly; be patient! I have double-checked all the links. They just may load slowly….. Something that is not under my control.)
Are You AWARE?
You can watch a 5-minute clip here in which the parent of a vaccine-injured child drops an impressive series of truth bombs – about vaccines, vaccine injury, lack of safety testing of vaccines, the untrustworthiness of the pharmaceutical industry, etc. These were remarks given to the Toronto Board of Health committee a few months back. (More info on that meeting here.)
For the record, the BOH (as the committee is called), was apparently not aware. Or perhaps they were aware? ... but just didn’t care?? Impossible to say. Not a single question was put to Mr. Sussman after his rather amazing 5 minutes of testimony. Not one single, solitary question. (Three other people also spoke about the many things we’ve learned about vaccine risks/injuries/pharmaceutical industry lies. And not one of us was asked a single question. It was kind of outstanding, actually.)
Aren’t you CURIOUS??
When you hear about families with vaccine-injured children?
When you hear about the skyrocketing rates of autism?
When you hear that someone’s young baby died after vaccination – aren’t you curious about that? (Hear one family’s story here: in print DTaP Vaccine Shatters UFC Fighter’s Family After It Kills Their Healthy Boy; in video Our story about our beloved son Nicholas Scott Catone.)
Aren’t you curious about the ever-increasing passion & determination of the parents so rudely dismissed as “anti-vaxxers” … who btw are actually EX-vaxxers (see Vaccines: #Biggest.Irony.Ever) - because one (or more!) of their children was harmed by vaccines?
Are you curious about the growing # of MDs speaking up in dissent, airing their increasing loss of faith in the vaccine paradigm? Dissenting doctors have their say, here.
** If you are curious about families who’ve had a child injured by vaccines (& please note: it is not just young children who are being harmed! Adults can be injured or killed also. Teen-agers are having a perfectly terrible time with the Gardasil vaccine! Much about Gardasil in this Miscellaneous A – Z posting)…
I recommend these locations for many stories about families’ vaccine injury experiences:
On this site, one posting here
Here. A very moving and highly educational hour with parents of vaccine-injured children. 1986 news conference organized by the Association for Vaccine Damaged Children, held in Toronto.
Did You Know??
That the U.S. Congress acted in 1986 to release the pharmaceutical industry from liability for vaccine injury? This means Big Pharma does not pay if their products hurt, disable (or kill) people. Even a lot of people. Whoa. Talk about a “Get out of jail free” card!?
That since then, the # of vaccines being given to children has gone up exponentially? That young infants are given a cocktail of up to 5 or 7 vaccines now, in one (terribly ironically named) “well baby” visit?
That since the release from liability, the (U.S.) National Vaccine Injury Compensation program has paid out over $4 Billion for vaccine injuries? … & that the VAERS system that registers vaccine injuries in the U.S. has been estimated to capture only 1% of vaccine injuries? ** this posting has a whole section of information about the NVICP & VAERS, with links to info on the scene in Canada.
That it isn’t “just” autism that our young people are suffering from these days? Too Many Sick Children & Half of America’s Kids Suffer from Chronic Illness and It’s Getting Worse
That you are far more at risk of injury/death from the MMR vaccine than you are from the so-called “disease??” (Which, as Dr. Sherri Tenpenny points out, is a minor illness – not a disease at all. See this posting for her comments about that.) Best to take a read of an MMR monograph – information, btw, that comes from the manufacturer of the vaccines, i.e. the pharmaceutical industry itself. Right from the horse’s mouth. ** Merck monograph here ** GSK here. All monographs for vaccines used in Canada can be accessed here. (& no, MDs do not offer this information to parents/patients before the needle jab(s). It is very much up to YOU to demand that info – preferably a good bit of time before any needles. It’s pretty heavy-duty information that you need to read through carefully, thoroughly, & then seriously consider.)
Tell Me About Your Research!
If you don’t know about
Lack of safety testing of vaccines: LONG explanation here. Shorter explanation here (it covers vaccine safety at 8 minutes in, but the whole segment is perfectly dense with fact bombs about the pharmaceutical industry)
Aluminum in vaccines (scroll down to the section on Aluminum; you will find many links there)
Then it looks as though you may still have some research to do!
It could be that you’ve done what most of us have done all our lives: swallowed carefully-crafted sound bites designed to discourage our curiosity about vaccines – their risks, their efficacy (or lack thereof), & their possible side effects. The sound bites are part of a pretty darn slick PR machine that has certainly paid off for the pharmaceutical industry!
Hmmmm. Well, they do say it always pays to #FollowTheMoney, hmmm?
And for the record, there is in fact an avalanche of scientific research on the dangers of vaccines – which you have been deliberately discouraged from looking into in swallowing those careful, PR-created sound bites.
** Find plenty of science here.
Reader: we have ALL been spun!
It’s time we woke up & smelled the coffee.
I’m glad I was there for AMT’s last broadcast of ‘The Current.’
Both outside & inside, I mean.
I’m passionate about communicating truthful information that I firmly believe people need to hear …. even if it is perceived as “inconvenient” … which it seems is definitely often the case with this issue.
I’m also always open to hearing wise words from people whose work I respect.
Tanya Talaga called on non-indigenous journalists to open their ears. She was referring, of course, to the work for reconciliation between Canada’s aboriginal peoples & the settlers here. But I think she would heartily support a call for ALL journalists to open up their ears … on all issues.
Stephen Lewis said “It’s not the governments that will make the difference – but the people at the grassroots level.” He may have been referring mostly to climate change initiatives – but he too, I strongly suspect, would endorse the work of grassroots individuals working to spread information about vaccine risks/injury/mandatory vaccine policies.
Anna Maria Tremonti, in talking to ‘As It Happens’ co-host Carol Off about her war correspondent years – said she learned in those years to “go for the women” – to hear their stories.
She said further that, if you don’t reflect the stories of those who are suffering, you are not conveying the real truth about what is going on.
Finally, she commented that for herself as a journalist, it is not in asking the questions that she learns the most – but rather, in the listening to the responses.
Yes! We need to listen to the mothers & the families of vaccine-injured children. These families really DO suffer - & while mainstream media don’t want you to hear their stories (it would make you question the claims that vaccines are “safe and effective,” wouldn’t it?), those stories do need to be heard, shared, & learned from. (See Resources section at the end of this post for multiple sources of such stories.)
Listen, I know very well CBC will not be telling its listeners/viewers the truth about vaccine risks/injuries any time soon.
Its corporate hands are tied by its financial connections to an industry that provides no-doubt very generously to the corporation’s coffers.
The truth for me?
I must confess I was once upon a time a serious, die-hard CBC fan! I thought the CBC was like an awesome national treasure – a big, huge, extended family that brought millions of us from all over Canada together in a warm, happy embrace. Heck! I’d have chained myself to something if I’d thought the CBC was under serious threat! (Seems now to me it likely was. & succumbed. Now? Too late … & my trust has evaporated anyway.)
Turns out the family analogy breaks down & CBC is, if anything, a pretty seriously dysfunctional family. A bit like one in which abuse is taking place … but everybody is keeping quiet about it. While the abuse continues.
Shame on you, CBC. My trust has been totally broken.
If I cannot trust you to tell me the truth about flu shots & measles risks & vaccine injury & vaccine risks & side effects (quite clearly, I cannot), how can I trust you at all? About anything?
What else are we being lied to about??
Outright whoppers … slick coverups … or dangerous lies of omission?
Too much spin. Too much slick PR.
I’m with Stephen Lewis. I’m going to keep right on relying on grassroots action to spread the word on this issue!
To be continued…

** there are many-many (many!?) postings about vaccines on this site. All are listed on the right-hand side of the main page, under the heading ‘On Vaccines.” Which is located underneath the quotations on that main page. All provide many-many links to other excellent sources of reliable information about this issue.

A Few Relevant Quotations that Spring to Mind
“John Swinton, a prominent journalist in New York in 1880, at a banquet, reportedly responded to a toast to the “independent press,” by saying: “There is no such thing as an independent press. You know it and I know it. … What folly is this toasting an independent press? “We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks; they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.” My source
“He who pays the piper, calls the tune.” – Source unknown
“The twentieth century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: the growth of democracy; the growth of corporate power; and the growth of propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy.” – Alex Carey
“Silence is the voice of complicity.” – Source unknown
“For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth – persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forbears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.” – John F. Kennedy (JFK)
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
“I was stunned. I was, and I knew it, an ordinary person who long after he was grown up retained the childhood assumption that the people who largely control our lives are somehow better informed than, and have judgment superior to, the rest of us; that they are more intelligent. Not until Vietnam did I finally realize that some of the most important decisions of all time can be made by men knowing really no more than, and who are not more intelligent than, most of the rest of us. That it was even possible that my own opinions and judgment could be as good as and maybe better than a politician’s who made a decision of profound consequence. Some of that childhood awe and acceptance of authority remained, and while I was sitting … it seemed presumptuous that ordinary Simon Morley should question the judgment of this board. And of the men in Washington who agreed with it. Yet I knew I had to. And was going to.” – from the amazing novel Time and Again by Jack Finney - published in 1970
