Here we sit
watching a train wreck, in slow motion
We're sitting right on the train!
(Hell, we built the train.
We laid down the track!)
We're already halfway down the cliff!
(Did I say "slow motion"??
p.s. BIG insight about plagiarism learned today!! I wrote this, not knowing I was totally plagiarizing this news item I saw ... who knows when?? Life has become a blur.
& it wasn't climate stuff I was thinking of so much, train wreck-wise - it's, well, everything. The whole big messy ball of wax that is this train wreck we are living through. Environmental stuff in general, climate in particular, but also nukes & toxics & vaccines & .... of course, Donald Trump.
Hold on to your hats!!
& be mindful of the Quotes on the main page. Be kind. Look after each other.
As Kurt Vonnegut said:
“I asked Mark a while back what life was all about since I didn’t have a clue. He said, “Dad, we’re here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is.” Whatever it is. Whatever it is! Not bad. That one could be a keeper. And how should we behave during this apocalypse? We should be unusually kind to one another certainly, but we should also stop being so serious. Jokes help a lot. And get a dog if you don’t already have one. I myself just got a dog. It’s a new cross-breed. It’s half French poodle and half Chinese shitzu. It’s a “shit poo.” And I thank you for your attention. And I am out of here.” (his last speech, apparently.)
“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.” – Kurt Vonnegut
