Today was a shit show

<note: this was written several days ago now>

Today was a shit show.

On so many fronts

personal, professional, global

that I can’t even articulate the kind(s) of shit show I mean

& now?

Now I am inarticulate

(as well as more than a little inebriated)

(as far as we know)

Tomorrow is another day.

I …

I will leave it at that

for now

if I may.

So sorry everyone.

Tomorrow is

(as far as we know)

another day.

p.s. on the other hand. I did encounter 2 friendly people today, one in the “organic-y” store down the street, & a nice guy in the laundromat who generously gave me laundry tokens, bless his heart.

& I got a big pot of yummy lentil soup made.

& a friend & I exchanged some texts involving funny, silly emojis.

So even though I felt pretty darn overwhelmed by the day

… & the world

Some nice things happened, too.

p.p.s. & as Kurt Vonnegut [one of my all-time favourite writers] would say,

If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.

p.p.p.s. just ran across this Pema Chödrön gem: “Rather than letting our negativity get the better of us, we could acknowledge that right now we feel like a piece of shit and not be squeamish about taking a good look.” – Pema Chödrön, When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times (1997) ** more Pema C. quotes here
